CARLA VERNÓN
Chief Executive Officer
Carla Vernón joined Honest as Chief Executive Officer in January 2023. As the first Afro-Latina CEO of a U.S. publicly traded company, Vernón brings a new era of leadership that reflects the diversity of Honest’s consumers. In her role, Vernón will be laser focused on driving category growth, business innovation, and profitability to deliver the company’s core mission of inspiring everyone to love living consciously.
Prior to joining Honest, Vernón served as the Vice President of Consumables Categories at Amazon.com, Inc. where she had P&L responsibility for Household Essentials, Wellness, Beauty, Baby, Food and Beverage categories on Amazon.com as well as responsibility for technology development for those categories. Prior to joining Amazon, Vernón spent more than two decades in various P&L leadership roles at General Mills, Inc., most recently serving as the Operating Unit President of the Natural & Organic Division from July 2017 to April 2020. Vernón holds a B.A. degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton and a Master of Business Administration from Texas McCombs School of Business. Vernón serves on the Board of Trustees for Princeton University.

Kelly Kennedy has served as our Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer since January 2021. With more than twenty-five years of experience, Kennedy is an accomplished CFO who has built strong financial success for brands across the consumer goods sector in private equity backed start-up ventures, and large public and private companies. Prior to joining Honest, Kennedy most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Bartell Drugs, a family-owned pharmacy chain. She also previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Sur La Table, Inc., and See’s Candies as well as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Annie’s. Kennedy currently serves on the board of directors and audit committee of Vital Farms Inc. and is also a board member for FirstFruits Farms LLC. Rick Rexing
Chief Revenue Officer
Rick Rexing has served as our Chief Revenue Officer since September 2017, where he is responsible for leading our sales and international teams. Prior to joining Honest, Rexing spent his entire career at The Clorox Company, where he served as Vice President Sales, National Accounts for over half of his time with the company. At The Clorox Company he held various positions across the sales and customer functions, building business across all channels and categories, while also creating customer teams and setting sales policy. Rexing holds a B.S. in Marketing and Management from Indiana State University – Evansville (now University of Southern Indiana) and an M.B.A. from Xavier University.Rick Rexing

Steve Winchell
Executive Vice President, Operations and R&D
Steve Winchell has served as our Executive Vice President, Operations and R&D since June 2022 where he is responsible for further integrating our supply chain and R&D processes. Prior to joining Honest, Winchell worked for The Parent Company, where he served as the Executive Vice President of Product. In this role, Winchell played an integral role in taking the company public in 2021. During his time at The Parent Company, Winchell established and managed the end-to-end innovation, new product process and developed the company’s strategy to diversify its product portfolio. Prior to The Parent Company, Winchell spent over 14 years at The Clorox Company where he held multiple roles in managing Burt’s Bees, Cleaning Division’s R&D, International R&D and Home Care Product Development. He also led the process development department, new product development process, and was involved in multiple supply chain initiatives.

Janis Hoyt
Chief People Officer
Janis Hoyt has served as our Chief People Officer since May 2017, where she oversees all people and workplace functions. Prior to joining Honest, Hoyt served as Vice President of Human Resources at Blue Shield of California. In this role, she was responsible for driving people strategies, leadership and talent acquisition, and played a key role in merger and acquisitions. Throughout her career, she has also held roles at The Clorox Company, Aetna and Macy’s. In her time at Clorox, she held an international HR leadership role in Latin America and Europe. Hoyt is a certified executive coach and is also the CEO and founder of the Native American Bear Foundation, a private 501(c)(3) organization assisting Native American students pursuing higher educational opportunities. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco.Janis Hoyt

Brendan Sheehey
General Counsel
Brendan Sheehey has served as our General Counsel since June 2020, where he is responsible for leading our legal team, setting legal strategy and overseeing key deals and relationships across product, regulatory, commercial, international expansions, privacy, IP, policy and compliance. Prior to joining Honest, Sheehey served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Targus International LLC, where he led the company’s legal department and oversaw its corporate governance. Prior to joining Targus, Sheehey also held in-house counsel roles at Arbonne International LLC and Corinthian Colleges, and counseled clients while at Sidley Austin LLP. He holds a B.A. in Geography from U.C. Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Geography from the University of South Carolina and a J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law.Brendan Sheehey

Jennifer Kroog Rosenberg
Vice President, Marketing Communications
Jennifer Kroog Rosenberg has served as our Vice President of Marketing Communications since January 2018. As the head of the communications team, she is in charge of both internal and external communications, including public relations, influencer relations, social media, investor relations and events. Kroog Rosenberg has been a part of the Honest family for more than 9 years, serving in various roles across the marketing function prior to serving in her current role. Prior to joining Honest, she held marketing roles at Juicy Couture and Kooba Handbags. She is a founding member of Chief, a private network designed specifically for women leaders and has served as a mentor for the University of Michigan’s optiMize Social Innovation Program. Steve Austenfeld
Vice President, Investor Relations
Steve Austenfeld has served as our Vice President, Investor Relations since January 2022. He brings more than 30 years of experience overseeing global investor relations engagement, financial planning and growing best-in-class IR functions. In his role, he works closely with the executive leadership team to design and implement The Honest Company’s investor relations strategy, ensuring the organization’s strategic plan is articulated within the investor and analyst community. Prior to joining Honest, Austenfeld served as Head of Investor Relations for Gap Inc., where he spearheaded investor relations for material strategic initiatives meant to improve margins and revenue generation, including overseeing and adapting the company’s investor engagement strategy. Prior to Gap Inc., Austenfeld served as VP of Investor Relations for The Clorox Company, where his team led the company’s earnings release process, investor engagement practices and influenced decisions focused on enhancing shareholder value. During his leadership of investor relations, shareholder value increased nearly 350% and his team was twice ranked #1 by the Institutional Investor magazine in the Household Products, Beverages, and Cosmetics sector. Additional experience at Clorox included financial leadership positions at the enterprise, business unit and country level, on M&A/divestitures, in cost analysis and treasury. Austenfeld received his Bachelor of Science, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Washington.
